I absolutely agree and, unless you're from China or Taiwan, this has nothing to do with you. It certainly has nothing to do with me.

If the DPP was really a democratic party, they would put it to a referendum, they know they won't win.

I will happily let Chinese people decide what happen with a Chinese island.

But, you must also realise that if the people of Taiwan recognise themselves as Chinese and have only controlled the island for 70 years then the people of China need to decide and that includes Mainland Chinese too - they are after all the people of China and, as most Taiwan residents accept, they are also people of China - this is the reason China isn't forcing "democracy" to make the decision, it would be a 1.4 billion to 3 million landslide. The percentage of people already known as wanting independence on the island is less than 20% so, don't get too excited about them getting a democratic decision any time soon - the KMT might put it to a referendum in future but they won't go to the polls next January on that platform,

Undemocratic interference from the USA destroys any hope of stability and any hope of a decision made by the people for the people
